My Mother

Talking to my mother was defininetly a challenge today. Ugh! She doesn’t call to talk to me, she calls to ask me two dozen yes or no questions. She asked three times if I have to work tomorrow. Then she asked if I went shopping today, if I bought anything new, if I ate at any restaurants, if I am going places at night. Are those really the questions she calls to ask me? It’s really frustrating to me…because even if I do elaborate on something she just repeats it back to me four times and adds a “yeah?” on the end. That’s not conversation. I love how she tries to make up stupid excuses for getting off the phone. “Oh, I’d better go water my plants.” Well if watering your plants is so important than why did you interrupt that to call me? It just really frustrates me that she can’t think of anything meaningful to say and that she feels that asking me about what I bought at the store today is really relating to me.

I guess I don’t really help the situation much…but everytime I try to relate something on even a slightly deep level she gets all freaked out and starts to give me unneeded advice. I also love how she just makes up facts on her own and decides they are true. How does she know that I work until 630, or that I’m doing great at my internship? She gets so freaked out by anything remotely serious that I don’t dare bring it up. And by the way…I don’t give a fuck about birdwatching, and I’d really rather not hear about it.

Weekend Update

This weekend was so perfect…brief…but perfect, and I hate for it to end. Friday night Josh worked late, then he came over and we ate at bennigans….yum. Afterwards, we tried to watch the Machinist…but it was an awful movie so we turned it off halfway through. The movie went nowhere, sleeping was a much better option as we were both exhausted.

Saturday morning I woke up early to go to work and Josh slept in. Children’s Center was its normal and depressing self, but no one showed up for Rhythm Buddies! I was so pissed. I’m sure Hope will think it’s my fault for moving it to an earlier time…but that didn’t have anything to do with it as all the parents said that was fine. Anyway, after work Josh picked me up and we went to Alyssa’s lake house. It was so wonderful…very relaxing. Although I am still terrified of those jet skis, I will admit that they are fun. It was much better having Josh drive it though, he’s really good at them. I’m so sore though, especially my legs and arms…but it was worth it.

That evening, we had some delicious BBQ…and some slightly charred chicken, quite a bit of adult beverages and hung out. It was just really nice to spend time doing something other than worrying about work and money and my annoying mother and all that stuff. We crashed around 3am on a futon…and general futon activities commenced…what is it about futons?! This morning everyone slept in and we made breakfast and headed back home.

Today I’m pretty tired, but napping wasn’t really successful. I got plenty of sleep last night and my neighbors are moving in above me…which isn’t a really great napping environment. So now I’ll probably hang around and watch something dumb on TV.

Change of Plans?

So Josh calls me at 4.30, tells me he’s going to a 5 o’clock movie with Brad and he’ll come over after the movie. Well, it’s 9pm now, his phone is still off and he didn’t tell me that they had a change of plans…and I don’t remember this movie being six hours long. So I think I’ve been stood up.

I watched Alfie tonight, it was quite depresssing…not funny or anything at all. I feel bad for people like that. People who don’t care enough about other people and think their lives are the only ones that matter. The whole movie is really quite depressing and I ended up feeling quite sorry for him. Although Josh would have liked it since Sienna Miller was naked. Jude Law wasn’t even that cute in the movie. He was just kinda pathetic.
