Orchid Ball and a Great Weekend!

Well, this weekend is over way too fast! It was so great though. On Friday Josh and I left straight from work to get ready for Orchid Ball, it was hosted at Paggi House on South Lamar (or somewhere) and it was absolutely wonderful. This was the first year it was held on a Friday, but it was one of the best ones I’ve been to. We all met at the house and took limos to the Paggi House, it probably took a little bit longer to get everyone there, but I think riding in a limo is pretty fun considering that’s something I’ve only ever done once before..and that was prom! We get to the restaurant and we have a private tent with a full bar and a very delicious buffet. Paggi House is a small plates restuarant and I would totally go back for more of their delicious food. I must say…the chocolate fondue was quite a great thing…especially since we were sitting so close. I only had one though, I was totally afraid I would get chocolate all over my dress…not that anyone would have noticed, as most were totally drunk.

Speaking of drunk, I consumed more than enough red wine for the evening, but you know, I haven’t even gotten so much as tipsy since I moved here. Everyone looked really nice, most of the men were in tuxes and the girl’s dresses were all quite beautiful. I’m judging this on the beginning part of the evening when everyone was still put together. It was kind of funny though, after a delicious buffet and cocktail hour the dancing began, which of course meant that I was not dancing. Josh, Brads I and II, Laura and I all just hung out. It was really quite fun. I would rank this the second best orchid ball, behind the Driskell…it’d be hard to top that one. It was such a great time…and the best part was there were no humiliating moments involving fake toasts and non-existent proposals.

The rest of the weekend was pretty low key. Saturday we hung around, stayed in bed most of the morning and ate breakfast tacos…just about heaven in my book. I picked up my car at the repair shop…even though nothing was wrong with it and watched bad movies on tv. Josh came over in the evening after working for a bit and we got a snack at bennigans before watching another couple episodes of Trailer Park Boys…I fell asleep through some of the middle ones, I was exhausted. Josh went home because he wasn’t feeling well.

Today i woke up around 9, watched some quality programming on VH1 and called Josh around 1145 to see if he wanted to do something…he was still asleep and was being a lazy bum, so I went to Central Park Market, got the new Glamour and this fun Mystery Puzzles Book and Ashley came out and met me. We chatted for a little bit before she had to go teach. I really had a great time sitting out there reading, there was a great band, it was a beautiful day and I had a great smoothie. Josh and I lazed around this afternoon…except for when we were making out…and he showed me his new super cool media computer which I am totally jealous of. I really really want one now!

This week will be uneventful, we might go to that Violet Crown Radio Review at the Hideout Theatre on Saturday and hopefully there will be some other fun evenings this week. This was a great week, perhaps one of the best since I’ve moved here…right now all is good and I must say…being happy is a very good thing.

Madagascar Penguins

This weekend I bought a new gameboy game. It’s Madagascar Penguins for GBA. I’ve played several of the levels, and I must say it’s a great game. Some might claim that it’s too easy…but I find most other games to be too hard. So this game has great graphics wich are only enhanced by the fact the the graphics are mostly of penguins. Also, the dialogue and instructions are pretty witty and funny…very in keeping with the cartoons. The levels are all pretty attainable (unlike level six of Mario Bros 3 which I’ve been playing since december) and the gameplay is pretty easy. There are some cool gadgets that the crafty penguins use…soda bottle rockets, burger wrapper parachutes, slingshots and blow straw, it’s pretty funny. I would highly recommend this game…it’s quite fun.

Stupid Weather!!

Well, my plans for this weekend have been thwarted by the stupid stuipd weather. Josh and I were supposed to drive up to Dallas this morning to go visit my sister, Andy Angela and Brandon…but unfortunately we are actually having some winter weather for only the second time this season. So that means that the Dallas area is getting freezing rain and sleet. It’s probably not that bad, but to drive such a long way in not so great weather just wasn’t worth it.

Of course, I am rather superstitious, and after my car broke on Thursday, and then the bad weather this weekend, I was getting a sneaky suspicion that the cards weren’t in my favor for this weekend. So needless to say I’m pretty disappointed about not getting to see everyone, but perhaps there is another time when everybody can get together. Definitely this summer I want to go to Six Flags and the Fort Worth Zoo, but that’s a long way away…

Oh well, I’m bummed that this weekend didn’t work out, but I’m sure that there will be another time. For the rest of the weekend I think I am going to go to Central Market, maybe Old Navy, and be a lazy bum. Oh well…
