Last weekend Josh and I ventured to Katy for a nice long weekend. I got to meet his extended family for the first time, this was my first encounter from the Kentucky side of the family, and I must say they are quite enjoyable. Hopefully I made a good impression and won’t be banished forever from future family gatherings. I really did enjoy getting to meet them. His brother and sister graduated high school and are both going to UofH next year. Funny..aren’t they still like 13? We’re getting old.
My family and I just hung out, watched some TV ate some food and went shopping. I swear, our family crest should have a television (hi def, of course), a big plate of spaghetti, and a shopping bag. That’s what we do. Dad spent the majority of the weekend shredding what I can only imagine to be his old homework papers from elementary school and was mostly holed up in his office all weekend.
Their computer and very nice monitor was passed along to me, and Josh currently has my computer and is transferring the data over for me, I am excited to get this computer working. It’s kind of odd not coming home to my old computer though…that computer was the first thing I said hello to every day when I got home…kind of sad.
Josh and I have our five year anniversary in June, and I ordered one of his presents today. I think he deserves a few presents for putting up with me for so long. I think I also deserve really really nice presents for doing the same with him.
Work is good, nothing too interesting going on, but I seem to be constantly busy…which is a good thing. No plans for this weekend, perhaps laundry and some shopping. I’m still on a mission to find some khaki cropped pants. How hard can it be? I’ve been tired lately, so I think it might almost be my bed time. Nothing else too interesting going on…the bathroom bugs continue to invade, but I think the ants are on my side. I can’t believe it’s almost June!
Stay tuned in June for Kathrynocity’s one year anniversary…more info to follow.

Well, the TV season has officially ended, here are my thoughts on my favorite shows:
West Wing: I’m sad it’s gone. I never thought it was that bad…The ending was sentimental and nicely done. It was refreshing to see some of those characters moving on with their lives and leaving the WW behind. I of course, look forward to Aaron Sorkin’s new show which has many of the same actors.
Grey’s Anatomy: Well, I was screaming at the TV when Meredith and McDreamy were hooking up at the prom, I am a fan of McVet. The whole story line with Izzie and Denny was just sad, but I think her character will come back, because Alex, it seems, really does love her and isn’t as much of a jerk as he would like to think he is. Dr. Yang remains my favorite character, and I hope she and Dr. Burke are still together next season.
Desperate Housewives: This show is out of control. I’m glad that the Applewhites are gone, and I’ve read that the writers are weeding out the cast to focus more on the main four women. This show is becoming a spoof of itself and we really don’t ever progress in the story. I’m slowly losing interest in this show.
ANTM: Well, I love this show. I always have and always will. I was cheering for Joanie, but Danielle was also a great choice, she is a beautiful girl…unless she opens her mouth to speak. I hear that ANTM will be making the move to the new CW channel, which will be great…I love manufactured drama!
Lost: Josh and I watched the 2 hour Lost finale, and I still don’t really understand what happened. We know about the button, and the reason the plane crashed, but the whole storyline with Desmond and Penny…confusing. What happens to Michael and Walt? Who were those russian guys? Will Jack and Sawyer be killed, thus making the island a much uglier place? And nothing better happen to Sayid and Jin and Sun, because they are my favorite characters. We need answers people!

I have now officially seen the Da Vinci Code twice. The first was on opening night at the Regal Cinema, where Ashley and I sat next to some nacho loving men. Man, those nachos were fingerlicking good. The second was on Monday night at the ever enjoyable Alamo Draft House. I got to eat pizza, I wasn’t complaining.
Let me just say that I really enjoyed the book, and I have watched many of the specials about the real history of Da Vinci and the Knights Templar on the history channel. I think the subject matter is very interesting. I remember making the comment when I read the book the first time 2 summers ago that it almost read like a screenplay, which may not have been a bad thing.
The movie translated well onto film, infact, many of the long drawn out written passages that describe the historical importance of the events were nicely cut down to cool CGI flashbacks. I like the scene at Sir Isaac Newton’s funeral in particular. Although I was originally reluctant to see Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon, I thought he did a good job…although he was wearing a blue suit jacket instead of Harris Tweed with leather elbow patches. Audrey Tautou was great as Sophie, she is just absoultely adorable. Ian McKellen stole the show though, his character was just absolutely great and I’m sure he’ll add this to his collection of great film roles. Let’s just all agree that Tom Hanks and Ron Howard know how to make good movies. This was a great movie.
The movie was put together nicely, the plot was consolidated and efficient. I really don’t see why many critics gave it a harsh review. Maybe not Gigli harsh, but I think it serves its purpose has a historal thriller. Perhaps the drummed up controversy surrounding tarnished it a bit, but this was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. This movie was really entertaining and it had a nice ending. I even would recommend seeing it twice, the second time was just as entertaining as the first, so it would probably be a nice movie to add into your collection, right next to another good movie National Treasure.
If you like this kind of clue finding adventure, check out Treasure Hunters on NBC this summer, my old friend Chris Cortez worked on this the show and assures me it will be great.
Also, check out the movie Match Point by Woody Allen starring Scarlett Johansson and Johnathan Rhys Meyers, it is not what you think it will be. Man, that was a great movie.
