Colour Perception

About two months ago I heard about a website called EyesLipsFace. Their gimmick is that all products on the website are $1. Yes, that’s right a Dollar. Lip gloss, eye shadows, blush, foundation, even tools are all a dollar. Now, you get what you pay for, and this shopping experience was not without some problems. First off, I went on the website and ordered everything that I could posisbly want and the grand total was $16, plus $7 for shipping. So that was 16 pieces of make up for $23. Not bad, that’s about the price of one eyeshadow from Clinique, so I figured I’d place an order, and if even one thing was good then it’d be worth the money. After I placed my order i was told that it could take between three and five weeks for shipment. Mine took the full 5. The problem is that this website has been advertised in every women’s magazine within the past few months, so it probably got a little backlogged. Okay…I waited and finally my products came….in an envelope. Not exactly enough packaging to protect everything and one of the eye shadow cases was broken…not a problem, it was only a dollar.
So I’ve tested out most of the products and here’s the verdict: The product’s aren’t bad. The lip glosses are great, and totally worth investing in…also the makeup brushs and tools are fine as well. Stay away from the shimmering facial whip…unless you want to look like a clown.. The eye shadows aren’t spectacular, but they have good colors and I’m not too particular about eye shadow so it doesn’t matter too much to me. The blushes look fine, but should be applied lightly and with a big brush. This make up isn’t as finely milled as the best quality makeup, so you will probably have to reapply during the day, and be aware that the colors will change over time. Remember, you only paid a dollar, it’s okay not to like it. The lip glosses and other lip products are all spectaular, but the one draw back is that everything has a smell…like grape or orange or something equally juvenile. I’m not a fan, but I’ll get over it. Also, the quality of the cases is really crappy. They are the kind where the lids pop off suddenly, or if you drop it accidentlly on the floor the things explode everywhere.
The bottom line is if you are the kind of peson who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on make up, or just want to try out some new colors this is the place to go. Also, if you have a little sister or niece who wants to play with makeup this would make a great gift. You can even design a make up kit and customize it, which would make a great stocking stuffer. Definitely worth checking out, and certainly worth the money….just be aware you get what you pay for!

I had been looking forward to seeing Stranger than Fiction for a long time and we finally got around to seeing it this Saturday. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. I thought the movie would be much funnier than it actually was. It was a litlte more serious than I was anticipating, but that wasn’t a bad thing. It’s kind of like the Truman Show…where it’s funny parts in a serious movie. It’s a great movie and should be included on your Netflix queue since it probably won’t be out too much longer. Will Ferrell did a great job playing an IRS auditor…most people really do hate them…and he brought a more mature and developed sense of character to this role than in previous films. But you can’t really compare this movie to Elf or Ricky Bobby….it’s just not on the same plane. Seeing Will Ferrell cry was just about the saddest thing I could ever imagine, but this movie has a point…and a good point….which is very simple, yet relevant to the times. Emma Thompson as the author/narrator and Queen Latifa also do a fabulous job, but I love both of them in most of their movies. This movie is worth seeing, but if you’re expecting to see a funny comedy you might be disappointed. I can guarantee that you will smile through almost all of the film, even the parts that are a little more serious.
