Vacation
Greeting Friends! I hope Santa was kind to all of you. We had a very busy Christmas this year…in fact, we had 2 Christmas celebrations this year. Josh and I got in town Friday night really late. We planned to leave by 6 at the latest, but it took Josh almost 3 hours to transfer files between all the computers…which meant we didn’t end up leaving until about 8, and I was totally exhausted by the time we got back. I was beyond tired by the time we got home, I like to think I’m endearing when I’m sleeping…but some people interpret that as grumpy.
I didn’t have much time to rest though, since my sister and her family arrived Saturday afternoon. We had a good time playing with the kids, admiring Alex’s constant energy and opening up presents on pseudo-christmas morning. We all got some good Wii playing in, and Alex is really good at the bowling game. Pretty remarkable that my dad and my nephew can be in a heated competition. My little nephew Brandon is really sweet. He’s a lot like me: he loves quiet, snuggling, and alone time. I think we’ll get along quite well. They all enjoyed their presents, Brandon especially liked the little monkey stuffed animal I got him. So Christmas Part I was over after enough eating, presents and noise for 3 Christmases.
After the Roberts left, I went over to Josh’s family for the first part of our Christmas. We had a great time exchanging gifts, it’s so much fun having another part of the family. I call them my family-in-dating…since there really isn’t an official term for my boyfriend of seven year’s family. His family got me some really great gifts, and I’m pretty excited to read the new book I received.
So, after all of that, my parents and I ate dinner and went to church, and then Josh came over and unwrapped presents at my house and we had our Christmas together. He always leaves for Kentucky on Christmas morning which is sad because I want to be with him that day, but good because then I get to open my presents earlier. Josh got me really great gifts this year: a new ipod, a snuggling blanket and this lotion that I’ve been obsessed with for quite some time. I think he liked his fender strakes too, if you don’t know what those are don’t worry, just think of them as bling for your car. Well, maybe not a car like my focus, but a general type of other car.
Wih all of the merriment and present opening and little boys running around my parents and I were exhausted and began our present opening a little later than usual on Christmas morning. But we had a good time unwrapping, eating our breakfast and playing with all our new toys.
We got to see National Treasure in the afternoon which we all enjoyed quite a bit, and of course there was more eating. Always more eating. It was a fun very long weekend, and it was nice to get to spend time with everyone. I do enjoy all the cookies and dip and family and merrimient.
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and got to enjoy some family time, and day after christmas sales. I will update a bit later about everything else that has happened in my glorious week off…just a teaser: lots of shopping!
