Thursday

Do you ever have one of those days where you wake up tired? Barely survive taking a shower without drowning and then slowly gaining some sort of awareness of the world? I am having one of those mornings. I actually argued with the alarm clock this morning, I couldn’t believe it thought it was 6am already, when I was sure I was going to receive another 2 hours of sleep. Today is a day where I will be sleepy most of the day, will probably have to work late, and will want to do nothing more when I come home than crawl in to bed and wish it were Saturday. I’m all for working and being productive, but it seems to me like everyone in the world would be a little happier if we could work monday though thursday and have a three day weekend. I wouldn’t mind working 4 ten hour days to make up for it. But alas, it’s time to pack my boring lunch and make my way to work for what will surely be an exceptionally hectic day.

Normal

Well, I’m back to the normal pace of life since going back to work. As much as I enjoyed my vacation it did feel good to come back and have my own things around me again. Work has been good, not too hectic. I finished an awful project I’d been working on for weeks and that gave me much satisifaction. It was a bookkeeping project that was significantly above my knowledge base and with a client that was significantly annyoing. He’s the kind of person who would receive an email from me saying, “I’ve done this much, but I should have the rest done by Monday.” Then I would get an email at 7am Monday morning wondering why the work isn’t done…or demanding to know why I don’t respond to emails sent to my work account at 10pm. Sigh. I think he just needs a hug…and a bookkeeper.

My new office assistant is working out wonderfully. She’s so incredibly nice and helpful. My favorite thing is just letting her answer phones for an hour or so, so that I can get some actual work done around the office. Teaching her how some of the things in the office work has also made me apppreciate exactly how much it is that I do. So I still have the same work load, at least at this point before tax season begins, but now I’m doing a bit more billable work.

Josh and I had a pretty good weekend, we went to Plucker’s Friday night and then to Chez Zee with Ashley, took Mike out for his birthday and Saturday, and had him over for dinner on Sunday. Saturday I was just kind of lazy and did laundry and hung around in bed…it was beautiful. Yesterday I had to do a bit of work in the morning, then I went grocery shopping in the afternoon. It was a really nice day outside…hopefully the weather will stay like this for a while.

Josh’s birthday is this weekend…the big 25…so his parents will be coming up this weekend to celebrate. I don’t know what’s happening in Austin this next weekend, but I’m sure we’ll find something to keep us occupied. I’m usually a pretty big fan of napping on the weekends….maybe we could schedule that in….
