Tax Seasons, Weeks 4-6

Sorry for the lack of postings, but honestly there’s not too much to report. My days during the week are basically the same:

545: wake up, shower, eat breakfast, check email, makeup & hair, pack lunch, leave
700: arrive at work, check voicemail, email pull files
800-500: client appointments, answer phones, process returns, delegate, supervise, be nice and sweet
5-730: take off heels & replace with flip flops, actually get work done for the day, finish returns, staff meetings, put out fires
730-930: arrive home, make & eat dinner, watch tv, get ready for bed
930: sleep

honestly, that’s about all there is. That’s not to say I don’t have some really amusing client stories to share with you, but now is not the time.

So that just leaves the rest of the news from our lives. Josh and I got the new Super Smash Brother Brawl game for the Wii and I’ve been learning how to play. I’ve decided Kirby is my favorite player, and I’m okay. Half of the time I’m facing the wrong direction or trying to beat up Josh’s character, but I think I’m improving all the time. If you have the game you should let me know your numbers so we can battle.

Last Saturday Josh and I went out to a really nice dinner at Eddie V’s. His boss had given us a gift card, so we treated ourselves to a really nice meal. It’s quite amazing how relaxing and wonderful it is to have really great service and food. The restaurant was quiet and we weren’t rushed at all. I had a delicious scallop appetizer, follwed by grilled shrip stuffed with crab for an entree. Josh had seared ahi tuna and a steak for dinner. We followed that up with creme brulee for dessert. Yum. I’d definitely go back any time. Next month we plan to go to Fogo De Chao for a really belated birthday celebration for Josh. I suggested that once a month we go out and treat ourselves to a really special dinner, but I don’t think Josh (or his wallet) really enjoyed that idea too much.

When I’m not busy out of my mind, I’m generally daydreaming about how I get to use all my vacation time this summer. First up is vacation to South Carolina with Josh’s family. Then I’ll probably go visit my parents for a while, then there’s this Las Vegas trip that we’re in the process of planning. So, I’m trying to leave all the details to other people, what I really want to know is what clothes should I plan on buying! I really need some new summer clothes. So after tax season I’m planning on hitting up the outlet mall in Round Rock and buying cute stuff that is appropriate for both vacation and work. For Vegas I’ll probably have to invest in some cute going out clothes, but I might have a few things that are appropriate…or inappropriate…

Andy and Angela stopped by my office yesterday for a really nice surprise. Angela put an enormous amount of effort into making a tax season survival kit for me, complete with makeup, snacks, and organizational tools. It was the best part of my week by far. You guys are great.

No plans for this weekend yet, maybe we’ll have some people over to play SSBB. Maybe we’ll just sleep all weekend. I know I have to work on Sunday morning, boo. There’s also the regular schedule of laundry, grocery shopping and cleaning. Thrilling.

I wish there were more exciting things to report, but not at this point. Really, all I do is work and sleep. I’ve been talking to Josh lately about finding some activity that we can do together. He agrees that it’s a good idea, but we can’t decide on anything we’d like to do together. He doesn’t want to artifically contrive activities for us to do just for the sake of doing something together, but he shoots down all my suggestions and doesn’t have any of his own. But at least we’re working on it…kind of. I really wish Josh were motivated to take golf or working out, or something that would be mutually beneficial for the both of us, but sadly nothing tickles his fancy.

That’s probably all the updates for now, hopefully something interesting will happen this next week so I’ll have all kinds of new things to say, but we’ll see. It’s it ironic that I want you to read my blog, but constantly apologize that there’s nothing interesting on it? I wonder what that says about my life…
