Seventh…yes..Seventh Anniversary

This past weekend Josh and I celebrated our seventh anniversary. That’s a long time indeed, but that also means it’s been seven years since we graduated high school and went off to college. Wasn’t that only yesterday? It also marked the third year since I moved to Austin and 3 years since I finished school. I can’t believe it.

Since we have a big vacation coming up in a few weeks we kept our celebrating to a minimum. We went out to dinner at the Daily Grill where I happily participated in dinner of fish and chips followed by carrot cake (in honor of Ashley) for dessert. Josh was going to Katy to visit his parents for Father’s Day the next morning, so we didn’t exactly paint the town red. After all that food and two manhattans I was ready for bed about 11. Exciting, I know.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing regular weekend things, nothing too exciting to report there. This week will be more of the same. Andy and Angela are coming to visit this weekend so I have to plan something for Saturday after tubing. Josh is moving office buildings this week, so he’ll be pretty busy with that. My mom is up in Dallas visiting my sister, and I’m here working….always working.

Nothing else exciting his happening for me at this time. In 12 days (yes, I’m counting) we leave for vacation with Josh’s family, then pretty soon after that it’s time for Vegas and possibly a trip to San Francisco…but not definitely. So right now there’s kind of a lull in fun and exciting happenings, but hopefully something fun will happen soon.

I know, I know…

It’s been forever since I’ve updated this blog. The end of tax season was…taxing, and it has taken me a while to recover. I’m finally starting to feel like my head is above water and I’m able to see a little more clearly about the good things that will be happening this summer.

Just a few updates to get you caught up on the past few months:

I got a new car which I absolutely love! It’s a 2009 Subaru Forester, and despite what my Dad and Josh say it is not the offical car of the Barack Obama campaign. It’s totally fun, and for the first time in my entire life I actually had a say in the car I’m driving! Josh was a big help in getting all the financing worked out and negotiating with the dealership. I just showed up, signed my name a bunch of times and wrote a big check.

For Memorial Day we drove down to Katy (I haven’t been there since Christmas) and celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday. It was a lot of fun. My mom made a lot of food, 3 cakes, and a good time was had by all. I enjoyed spending time with my little nephews. They’re pretty cute. I think my Dad had a nice time seeing everyone.

I’m going to Charleston with Josh’s family at the end of the month for vacation. It will be the first time for me to meet most of his extended family, and I’m kind of nervous about that. Mostly I’m looking forward to finally getting a tan, taking some much needed time off of work and getting to know his family better. I just hope they like me! I’ve already started making lists of things to pack, but I’m sure I’m still over packing.

I’m also planning a trip to Vegas in August with a whole group of my friends. I think it’s going to be a really really awesome time. I can’t wait to see everyone! It will be so much fun to do something with my friends that doesn’t involve the marching band in some way or another!!

Josh and I will be celebrating our 7th…yes 7th anniversary this weekend. We’re not doing anything fancy since we’re saving our money for vacation in a few weeks.

Other than that things have been going fine. Josh and I spend our weeks at work…we both work basically all the time. Our weekends are spent catching up on housework, grocery shopping and hopefully doing a few fun things. Recently we bought a new TV and TV stand for the living room which we’ve both been enjoying very much. We cleaned out our closet on Saturday and ended up bringing 4 bags of old clothes to Goodwill. I was very sad to see some of my much beloved clothes go, but I had to make room for Josh to have more than one rack of clothes. He’s created a rule that when I get something new I have to get rid of something old, and although that makes sense, I just think we need to buy a house with big huge closets for all my clothes and shoes.

I’ll get back on my regularly scheduled updates now that I have something to do other than work!
