Family/Friends/Family/Family/Friends

This time of year has been a little extra crazy, not for any bad reason, but because our weekends are filled entertaining our friends and family. Josh and I don’t have a huge social circle, and we both have surprisingly small families as well, but we are lucky that so many people are going to come visit us over the next few months.

This past weekend was Josh’s birthday, and his siter Liz came up Friday night to hang out with us for a while before the rest of the Butts clan arrived. I had so much fun having some girl time. We treated ourselves to a luxurious pedicure at Embellish, which is my new favorite place to spoil myself. Then after the rest of the family arrived, we had some lunch, went shopping, had dinner, played some Wii and had a delicious breakfast and snacks the next day after some geocaching. All in all, it was a really fun weekend, but about 5 seconds after we said goodbye I tucked myself into bed for a 3 hour nap. It was bliss.

This weekend, all of my high school friends are converging on Austin to celebrate Josh and Mike’s birthdays, and also to meet Mike’s new special friend. We’re having some people stay over at our apartment, going to the Belmont for dinner, and once again, I’ll be making breakfast in the morning. Breakfast is probably my favorite new meal. There are so many delicious things to do with bacon and syrup!

Of course, we can’t neglect my parents, so they are coming to visit the last weekend in February. To counteract all of the eating out we’ve been doing, I’ve asked my mom to bring some stuffed shells and meatballs up, and I hear she’s also making a special birthday cake for Josh. So much for being on a diet…right? I don’t know what’s in store for us yet, but I’d like to have my mom help with some decorations around the house, so perhaps Dad and Josh can go geocaching while spark and I do some shopping.

The following weekend, February 7-8 Josh and I get a weekend off. I think it’s going to be one of those times where we don’t actually leave the apartment the whole time.

The next weekend, Valentine’s Weekend is going to be super crazy. Uncle Bill and Aunt Pam from Kentucky are coming to visit us poor Texans. I don’t have exact details yet, but I think we’ll be entertaining them Friday evening and Saturday. Rumors are that Salt Lick is in the plan…and nothing says romance like some good barbecue. Seriously. However, that weekend the Trommers from Keller will also be in town and we had to back out of Angela’s pasta buffet idea. I hope we’ll get to see them on Sunday, but since Andy will probably be spent after running a ridiculous distance, I’m not getting my hopes up. Luckily they live close enough that we get to see them frequently.

Okay, so the last person to come visit us some point in Late February/Early March is going to be none other than Brandon Blank. He has something going on in San Antonio, and is going to stop by to visit us along the way. I’m excited about him coming, because I get to take him to some fabulous Austin restaurant. I’m already dreaming about some crazy good restaurants.

All of the ladies and gentleman, is happening during tax season. So you’ll have to forgive me if the house isn’t perfectly clean, and there are dust bunnies in the corner, but there are only so many hours in the day, and as much as I’d love to spent more of those hours entertaining, someone has to make the money to buy all the champagne and wine!

First Week Back

Well Friends, my first week back at work was pretty exhausting, mostly due to the fact that I contracted some kind of killer head cold at the New Year’s Party. I’ve gone through about 5 boxes of kleenex this week, and my poor little nose is all read from blowing it so much. Luckily I didn’t’ lose my voice completely, but I did get kind of a husky deep sexy voice for a while. Not that it’s too sexy to be walking around with a runny nose all day.

After some serious napping yesterday and sleeping in this morning, thanks mostly to Nyquil, I’m feeling better today. I don’t plan on leaving my nest on the couch much today, but it’s all in order to have enough energy to face work on Monday.

Larry was certainly not in an ease back into work mode. We hit the ground running on Monday and never looked back. I don’t think I sat down at all. I’ve even had two meeting already this year. It’s ridiculous! I think this tax season will be less….taxing?…than last year’s, but it’s still going to wear me out.

Josh’s family is coming to visit for his birthday next weekend, and I’m so excited that his sister is finally coming along. She hasn’t been to visit Austin since I moved here in 2005. I’d think fabulous young people such as herself would want to come to austin all the time, but I think all of her commitments keep her too busy for too many trips up here. I’m looking forward to having another girl around…even if it’s only for a weekend.

Last night we went to a party with a group that are quickly becoming our fast friends. Finally we’re making friends that are couples…so we can do couple things together. The guys are all developers, and the girls are all of a like mind, so we have a really good time together…especially with those delicious jello shots that Tasha makes.

Anyway, this next week will probably be busy with work, and getting the house ready for company. I’m still trying to convince Josh that we need a maid, and I think I might be slowly wearing away at his objections. I really only need one during tax season, and I don’t think that’s too much to ask. But, until I get that maid, I’m just going to give Josh more and more things to do until finally he gives in. That’s a pretty good strategy, right?

No Posts?

Sorry for the lack of updates. I caught a cold right after new years, and have been going to bed around 830 every night. Once I’m feeling 100% and work has settled down some I’ll write a nice long post about kitty cats, food, and what I’m thinking at any random moment.

Until then, you can enjoy my twitters.
